A Look Inside the Vanishing Elephant Store, Melbourne
Australian menswear label Vanishing Elephant released some news a little while back on their website of a flagship store opening in Melbourne. So today we get a quick look inside the store which gives us an idea of what this open space is like.
The shop’s quite basic in it’s form but has some great structural features, beautiful wood flooring, and some nicely patterned rugs to set off the simplistic clothing. It seems like they’ve also got some accessories from other brands, one prominent being Makr Carry Goods, see the weekender in green hanging on the wall above, who we’re particularly good friends with. I really like it when I see shops with a clean and organic styling, it sets of the clothing perfectly and makes it stick out in a lot of ways. Quite a subtle touch that’s surprisingly hard to get right.
Vanishing Elephant have done a great job at getting their brand name out over the past year on this side of the pond so it wouldn’t surprise me if this store was a big success and we may see many more open in the near future.

Rugby Ralph Lauren Tweed Run NYC October 15
Reminder that the Rugby Ralph Lauren sponsored “Tweed Run” is happening in New York City October 15. Get your old school bike and musty jackets out of the closet. Shop through their vintage stores and look like you belong in a scene from an old flick or video set in ole time London (with love of course). “We’ll be outfitted for the occasion in traditional British cycling attire, particularly tweed blazers, knickerbockers and riding caps. It will be an absolutely spiffing day, guaranteed.”

HISTORY OF A DISTURBANCE
You are angry, Elena. You are furious. You are desperately unhappy. Do you know you’re becoming bitter?—bitter as those little berries you bit into, remember? in the woods that time. You are frightened. You are resentful. My vow must have seemed to you extremely cruel, or insane. You are suspicious. You are tired. I’ve never seen you so tired. And of course: you are patient. You’re very patient, Elena. I can feel that patience of yours come rolling out at me from every ripple of your unforgiving hair, from your fierce wrists and tense blouse. It’s a harsh patience, an aggressive patience. It wants something, as all patience does. What it wants is an explanation, which you feel will free you in some way—if only from the grip of your ferocious waiting. But an explanation is just what’s not possible, not now and not ever. What I can give you is only this. Call it an explanation if you like. For me it’s a stammer—a shout in the dark.
